As a guitarist and songwriter, I had performed solo, and as a member
of several Montreal-based bands during the late 70's to early 80's --
including: Christopher Robin, Dawntreader,
Stephen-Paul & Friends, and the Island City Band --
playing original songs and covers in various styles across a musical spectrum, ranging from
traditional-folk, bluegrass, gospel, Christian contemporary, rock,
and blues.
While
playing music was a integral part of my life during the
late 70's and early 80's -- I, surprisingly, did not play much
for several years after leaving Montreal in 1985. Upon returning to Montreal
in 1999, I was drawn right back into the local Christian music-scene!
After several creatively-rewarding years of re-exploring fingerstyle
acoustic guitar playing, I'm excited to be regularly playing electric guitars
again! Although, long gone are the days of bashing out 4 barre-chord rock
songs through 240 watt amps (and 4 x 12 stacks) with the volume up
on 11, 2006 marked a serious return to electrics, nearly 20 years after my last band project
-- Island City Band. These days,
I'm delighted that my playing is off the shelf, re-tooled, and
polished.
I was extremely blessed
to have served in recent years as the Director of Music at St. Stephen's Anglican Church in
Westmount, QC -- where I co-led a worship team with the incredibly
gifted Erica Phare. Following the amicable decision to
split the congregation in early 2009, I sensed it was time to move
on to new ministry, and to refocus my creative energies towards
completion of ongoing projects.

I am usually available to play in Montreal (given reasonable
notice) either solo, or with sometimes partners. I
also hope to continue to play in Corpus Christi, TX from time to time -- my work
and travel schedules permitting!
For those interested in my music gear, I continue to steadily build
an interesting collection of guitars,
basses, and other various folk instruments -- including a mountain
dulcimer, a concertina, several flutes, penny whistles, various
recorders, a zither, and many percussion "things'.
My current go-to guitar is a Bourgeois DBJ-C. I also have a pair of
Taylor guitars (a 355 12-string, and a 710 dreadnaught). I usually
play through a Boss AD-8 DI box connected directly to a PA system.
My current favorite practice guitar is a Simon & Patrick
Woodland Mini Jumbo. I still play my "bought new" '77 Guild
D-35 periodically, which seems to sound better the longer I own
it. In 2002, I was surprised to find a near mint-condition vintage
Daion Model 80, replacing my long lost (and always
lamented) Daion Heritage 78! My current electric guitar set-up
includes a Godin XTSA connected to Boss GT-6
effects unit, and a Roland GR-33 guitar synth. Past guitars in
my life have included a well-loved 1976 Aria 6814 12-string, a
beautifully deep toned and brassy 6 string Daion Heritage guitar (I
really miss this one!), and late 70's versions of Guild M-60 and
SD-300 electrics.
Thanks so much for checking in! Please continue to watch this space for news
about Woodwork, my seemingly never-ending CD project! I've
been busy writing some new material that I'm really incredibly
excited about, and look forward to releasing a full CD of new and
old works sometime in the near future.
